White Label Mobile App

This is a white label mobile app for which I headed up the design of the front end. It is geared towards the hospitality industry - basically when the property itself is the destination. We have an iPhone, iPad and Android version (and for a while a Windows Phone version as well).

It encompasses a large number of features and functions useful for guests, including checking your account balance, booking tours and shows, making restaurant reservations, text messaging within the app, messaging from the property to the guest, and app to app calling as well as app to phone number calling, among other things.

It is currently in use, under different app names, by about 15 resort and casino brands, for use at about 70 properties.

Being a white label app, we needed to design it with flexibility in mind so as to be able to manipulate the layout as well as to re-brand it for each client. We moved most of the styles, strings and graphics into a database so that we could manipulate values per client and have a source control for them. We then exported those values and graphics to the development environment and compiled them together with the code to create a branded version of the app for each customer.

Annotations and Prototypes

Initially wireframed and annotated in Balsamiq, the app has recently undergone a bit of an overhaul, which was prototyped in Adobe XD and brought to a high level of fidelity in the prototype. An example of the iPhone prototype is available here. You can see the project overview here.

With the more recent annotations, we simply exported the prototype screens and marked those up in Photoshop, and referred the developers to the prototypes for the expected behavior that couldn’t be represented in a still image.
